About Dubai College

The DC experience is about providing opportunities for students to develop their talents and to discover new ones. To thrive children need to be challenged and inspired - in the classroom, on the sports field, on the stage – as they in turn aspire to be the leaders and shapers of tomorrow.

Dubai College has a tradition of academic success. But DC is about much, much more than ‘A’ level and GCSE results. The co-curriculum is an essential, core element of life in the school and students are as determined and ambitious on the sports field, performing on stage or supporting a plethora of community projects as they are studying history, science or music. Active participation in the extensive activities programme is the key to success in the classroom.

Dubai College is a leading British overseas school and is recognised globally for the quality of its academic and extra-curricular achievement. The College was founded in 1978 and is one of the oldest ex-patriate educational institutions in the Emirates, and one of only a handful of not-for-profit schools in the region. The College is a member of HMC, BSME and COBIS.

By September 2015 the College will have 880 pupils (co-educational, 55% British with 40 additional nationalities represented) with a thriving Sixth Form of 220 students. Examination results are outstanding with GCSE and A-Level results consistently placing the school in the very top tier of any UK or international league table. Extra-curricular provision and achievement is world class. The spacious 19 acre campus has been significantly expanded and developed over the last five years with further building and modernisation works planned.

Situated in the heart of the New Dubai district, the school’s buildings and playing fields are extensive, covering some nineteen acres in total.

In addition to the light, airy and well-equipped classrooms, specialist facilities include a science block with thirteen laboratories, three design and technology suites, five computer suites, four art studios, a canteen and a music centre with teaching and recital areas, 12 practice rooms and a recording studio. There are also 3 drama studios, a library a dedicated Sixth Form Centre and a state of the art 900 seat auditorium.

The school library is a focal point for independent learning and research, and in addition to fiction and non-fiction texts, offers audio and video resources along with internet access.

The extensive provision made for physical education reflects our belief in the contribution it makes to a well-rounded education. There are grassed playing fields which incorporate a variety of pitches, cricket nets, four all-weather tennis courts, a competition-size swimming pool and a multi-purpose hall
